What is it like staying at Shipwreck?

Imagine modern day meets a fairy tale. You are among the mountains on a lake in a ship, it truly is incredible. There is a private dock that leads out to the water and in the summer you can enjoy the lake!

When we first walked into Shipwreck we all gasped. It is truly jaw dropping gorgeous! The rooms and spaces are filled with pirate themed decor. The patios are amazing! There is a cannon on the second floor that shoots water out on the private island dock, so if you have kids it would be a really fun discovery.

Details about The unique place to stay – Shipwreck Airbnb

6 guests can stay here in their choice of 1 king bed, or 4 twin bunkbeds! There are two separate rooms, one on level 2 and the other on level 3. I had the chance to stay here with two girlfriends, and we all stayed on level 2 in the bunk beds called the “Bunkhouse.” Level 3 is the “Captain’s Quarters” fit for the richest of pirates! It has a separate entrance from the other two levels.

The wardrobe has stunning pirate wear inside (you see that corset I’m wearing in the photo above and below?) and the entire room looks like luxury. The chandelier is a ship made from crystals, the room is covered in decadent art. I can’t decide which is my favorite…the bathtub at the “bow” of the boat, or the beautiful shower in the master bath. It has a rainfall shower head and two others too. The color is deep blue like the sea. I was in AWE here. It is BEAUTIFUL.

Level 1 is the “Galley” where a full kitchen is found. There are dishes and utensils, plus pots and pans. Everything you need to have a lovely night can be found here. There are stunning glasses all around the place to enjoy some fine wine or whiskey in.

There are also really fun details, like a giant projector, (the Pirates of the Carribean movies are *of course* available to watch) and even a treasure hunt available. Every single corner of this place is special. The owner and visionary truly outdid herself when renovating this falling apart building in 2020. It truly is a masterpiece and I highly recommend spending a night here. She is an Idaho local, and we love supporting female owned businesses here!

Is it worth it for that much a night?

The price is pretty high, at $600 per night, however, you really are buying the experience. This accommodation is not just a stay, it is like entering a new little pirate world all to yourself. So, if it’s worth it to you and 5 other friends you could split it up $100 a night per person! I recommend staying more than 2 nights to make the cleaning/service fee worth it which are both around $200 each. I will say, you could easily sleep more as well if you bring some sleeping bags for the couches, or an inflatable mattress. There is plenty of room on the 2nd floor.

What to do nearby?

The Shipwreck House is located right on Wilson Lake, so you can bring water toys and enjoy the water! We visited during fall, so after dressing up like pirates and enjoying the place, we went to a hot spring. Here is the hot spring we hiked to: https://worldtosarah.blog/2024/08/30/hiking-to-goldbug-hot-springs-salmon-challis-national-forest-in-idaho/
