3 Must Visit Hot Springs in Iceland

Iceland has 45 soak-able hot springs throughout the country! The 3 hot springs that I would recommend visiting are Hvammsvik, Sky Lagoon, and Blue Lagoon. I will rank them in my favorite order too…although it is tough to decide as they all offer something different. All of the hot springs have changing rooms that are public but have private options.

#3. Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon is famously known for its stunning blue water, random volcanic activity, and the mud masks! Getting a time booked at Blue Lagoon is amazing because you do get 1 free drink while at the lagoon, a free mud mask, plus you can swim all around the area! Blue Lagoon is ranked 3rd for me because: it is pretty busy, it felt a little dirty on the outside of the springs, and the water felt pretty aggressive compared to other hot spring waters regarding my hair and skin!

Cost: $72 USD and up!

Are you a photographer trying to get some awesome photos before the crowds like me? Book your slot for 7AM! That’s what I did to get some great photos with no people in the back. Blue Lagoon is located near Keflavik.

LONG HAIR TIP! Put a ton of conditioner in your hair before getting in, and try to not get it wet too much. Of course, I put mine underwater a few times for photos and just because it felt so good to swim hahaha. Conditioner saved it, and it didn’t get super dry.

#2 Sky Lagoon

Sky Lagoon is absolutely stunning! The water is pristine, the views are absolutely gorgeous, and the aesthetic is luxury. From the changing rooms to the rocks around the pool everything is beautiful! Sky Lagoon has a waterfall, and an infinity pool that looks over the ocean. There is also a cold plunge pool next to the sauna. Sky Lagoon is big on the Seven Step Ritual (they were running a sale when we were there and just got the cold plunge and hot pool option!) The ritual looks beautiful and I am sure it is so lovely! I cold plunged 5 times and stayed in for over a minute by the last one. It felt amazing.

Cost: $123 USD and up! (most expensive!)

Side note: I was told to put my Sony camera away while here, so I only got phone photos.

Sky Lagoon again is so clean and luxurious, it feels incredible to be here. It also comes with a free towel included in your purchase. Sky Lagoon is located in Reykjavik. All of the information to book your self care date at Sky Lagoon is here: https://www.skylagoon.com/experience/the-ritual/

#1 Hvammsvik Hot Springs

Hvammsvik Hot Springs is located also on the ocean but about a 40 minute drive from Reykjavik. There are waterfalls nearby and the drive here is stunning! You are able to cold plunge in the ocean while hot spring soaking here! I jumped in a couple times and wow it felt amazing! It is just a short walk away, and there are wooden steps leading down so your feet won’t get sore from the rocks!

Cost: $35 USD and up!

This is my favorite because the springs are super natural feeling, there are plenty of different ones of different temperatures, and the ocean being right there is just amazing! the views are incredible of the mountains as well. The only downfall is we didn’t not get towels.

How to book Hvammsvik Hot Springs? Check their website out below, and book in advance! https://hvammsvik.com

Let me know if you have been to these hot springs! Are there any really amazing ones I missed?! I am sure I did! If you asked for my opinion, the one hot spring most worth visiting in Hvammsvik! But, I don’t regret to going to a single one of these! If you can do all 3, do it.

None of these hot springs paid me to feature them, but Hvammsvik did give me a discount! Enjoy these stunning places. πŸ™‚
