Rock Wren Hideaway is located in Elba, Idaho which is just north of the City of Rocks National Reserve. It is also just minutes from Castle Rocks State Park! Clearly, it is in a beautiful destination. Looking out you will see views of the mountains & are surrounded by desert trees.

Glamping at Rock Wren Hideaway
“Glamping” is a form of glamours camping, but it is still camping! Know that you will use the restroom outside of your tent. The tents are called Bell Tents and and are made from a sturdy canvas. They look really nice and clean. There are more than 2 tents up now, and the owners plan to continue to expand.

Bathroom Situation
There is a porta-potty where you park your cars just out of the photo frame above. It is a very short walk to the bathroom. Next to the restroom there is a water station to wash your hands. There are also little wipes inside the tents as well.

Firepit & Picnic area
There is a nice area to have a fire and sit around it. Plus, there are picnic tables! Shout out to my friend Kenz for bringing s’mores for us, Rock Wren owners did offer some as well! Which by the way, they are so kind and sweet!

Photography at the City of Rocks

As a photographer, the City of Rocks and Castle Rocks are some of my favorites to photograph. The rocks stand tall and at golden hour the parks glow. Drive the scenic byway to discover so many stunning views! During the fall months, the trees change to vibrant yellows and oranges! Window Arch is a gem to photograph as well as the overlooks nearby. Remember to leave no trace while exploring.
*Drones are not allowed at the City of Rocks!

What to do nearby
Staying down at the City of Rocks is truly a magical experience. It is an international dark sky reserve so you’ll see millions of twinkling stars above you. Castle Rocks State Park is also a lovely and quiet Idaho state park. They both offer hiking trails and lots of wildflower viewing. If you’re a climber, this area will be a dream. The granite spires are so fun to climb.
There are hot springs nearby too called Durfee Hot Springs! They are a pay to enter commercial hot spring. Get food at Rock City Pizza, Tracy’s General Store, or Outpost Steakhouse. These all have varying hours depending on the season. Summer is the busiest time down here. Support local!!
